The Ludwik Jerzy Kern Memorial Room is an incredibly interesting place to visit in Rożnów. The work on its establishment began in 2018 at the local Primary School, and it was officially opened on October 4, 2019. It is a unique place dedicated to the outstanding author who frequently visited Rożnów and passionately created amidst beautiful forests and a colorful garden together with his wife.
Ludwik Jerzy Kern was born in 1920 in Łódź and ended his life journey in 2010 in Krakow. He was a poet, satirist, journalist, and a famous author of the last page of the magazine "Przekrój." He also wrote song lyrics. His popular children's book, titled "Ferdynand the Magnificent," has been translated into many languages. Moreover, he is the author of well-known songs such as "Lato, lato," "Nie bądź taki szybki Bill," and "Cicha woda."
Part of his works was created right here, in the Pogórze Microregion. His wife, Marta Stebnicka, made a significant contribution to the entire project of establishing the Memorial Room, as she was instrumental in collecting the first mementos that form a part of the exhibition. The creation of the "Virtual Ludwik Jerzy Kern Room" is also noteworthy, aiming to promote the work of the author of "Ferdynand the Magnificent" on the 100th anniversary of his birth. The interior of the Ludwik Jerzy Kern Memorial Room in Rożnów, as well as materials, poems, photos, and memories, have been made available on the Internet, providing insight into this exceptional figure and his connection with Rożnów.
